"No requests have been received." So the president of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, answered those who asked if Generali has made the request to join the Board of the Bank after being rose to 3,4% in the institute's capital.

Gros-Pietro, who spoke on the sidelines of a hearing in the Tax Registry Commission, reiterated that at the moment “there is no news. There are assessments from management. Our Board of Directors is informed of this and we are waiting for these assessments to lead to a result".

Then the banker underlined that “the only important news is that Generali has become a shareholder of Banca Intesa, certainly among the top five”, with a “3,4% stake”.

As for the timing for an evaluation, Gros-Pietro specified, “a deadline has not been set. We have great consideration for our shareholders and therefore this is also a shareholder we will take into consideration”.

The stake in Intesa in the hands of Generali corresponds "to an investment, I read of 1,1 billion", therefore the insurance group represents for the Bank "an important investor. As president – ​​concluded Gros-Pietro – I have the utmost consideration of all investors and naturally the more they invest, the more important they are for us”.
