Intesa, Bazoli: “Another mandate? We'll see when they ask me."

Intesa Sanpaolo's directors and shareholders are discussing the opportunity to bring forward the meeting for the renewal of the corporate bodies (Cds and Cdg) by a few months, in order to avoid overlapping with the political elections in April.

Intesa, Bazoli: “Another mandate? We'll see when they ask me."

"It will be decided when they ask me." Thus the chairman of the supervisory board of Intesa Sanpaolo, Giovanni Bazoli, replied to those who asked him if he is available for a new mandate after the expiry of the corporate bodies. “First let them expire and then we'll see”, added Bazoli again, speaking on the sidelines of the presentation of the 900th century shipyard.

But the times are by no means certain. Intesa Sanpaolo's directors and shareholders are discussing the opportunity to bring forward the meeting for the renewal of the corporate bodies (Cds and Cdg) by a few months, thus detaching this topic from the budget meeting, which is traditionally held around April.

Bazoli explained again to journalists: “You have read in the Corriere della Sera that there would be a month's advance. But if there was only a month's advance it wouldn't make sense, it would have to be a few months. This hypothesis is being considered."

The banker underlined that the anticipation of the assembly for the renewal of the bodies is dictated by the desire to avoid an overlap with the hot phase of the electoral campaign for the spring political elections.

“Think about what the end of April means in Italy from a political point of view – concluded Bazoli -. If these dates were blocked, it would not be the best thing for the Bank".
