Interview with Benjamin Taylor, author of “A walk around the bay, Naples declared”

The writer Benjamin Taylor knows Naples very well, so much so that he wanted to write a compelling book: a journey into the heart of the city. Naples, divided between the Camorra and the ancient Neapolitan pride. Below is a summary of Benjamin Taylor's interview with Bloomberg.

Interview with Benjamin Taylor, author of “A walk around the bay, Naples declared”

Although there is no real date, Benjamin Taylor, author of a book entitled "A walk around the bay, Naples declared", discovered the city by accident. He was there to visit Pompeii and Capri, when a colleague of his told him: it's what is hidden here (in Naples) that is very interesting. And from there he fell in love with Naples so much that he studied its history and culture.

Asks the Bloomberg reporter: "How does it manifest itself?" The writer replies: “It's invisible but it's everywhere. And it controls the political economy of the city ”and he adds, clarifying that the Camorra is not behind the strikes over the persistent garbage problem:“ We must not think of the Camorra as a single family. There are many families, whose interests and businesses occasionally end up in war”.

But the writer in the interview ends with: "I'm not here to talk about crime, I wrote this book only to remember its former glory."

Already. When we think of Naples, we don't automatically think of the Camorra, the garbage or the high crime rate: we think of its bays, its pizza, and above all the sympathy and honesty of its people.
