Interni recounts 30 years of the Fuorisalone del Mobile with a special book

It will be on newsstands on January 18 but it is already making itself heard in the international world of design because the book of the iconic magazine interior recounts with images, anecdotes and stories, the most original of events, the event of furnishing events, that Fuorisalone which since 1990, when it debuted as Milan Designer's Week, has punctuated the parallel successes of the famous Salone del Mobile in Milan.

An invention, started by the dynamic manager Bojardi guild director of Interni, which has "budding", and not only in Milan, temporary districts of festivals and culture and, at the same time, contributed to transforming a metropolis into the recognized capital of industrial design. But the managers of the sector, the men of business and culture who organize the approximately 1.500 events of the Fuorisalone would be doing a great injustice if something were not added that makes this event even more unique.

And that is that it is a big, involving, very messy urban party, where designers from all over the world, operators from all continents, stars and even simple housewives wander, run, travel, walk, attracted by showrooms that are always open, by entire districts transformed in cinematic scenarios…

Ideas race to the Fuorisalone while in the Salone in Fiera, the most beautiful and most advanced creations of the home districts unfold, always different every year. Two parallel events but which are expected almost more in other countries and continents than in Italy, because they can be summarized and defined in one word: "party". For those arriving here from Korea, Barbados, Africa and the US, a party means an opportunity to get to know the best of the Italian Home System in spectacular settings and with great lightness.

Through 512 pages, 1.000 images and the projects of over 2.500 protagonists, the book by Gilda Bojardi and Interni traces the history of the most important event in the world for international design.

“It is not enough to use the equation Design = Milan to understand the success of a one-of-a-kind event such as the FuoriSalone”, declares Bojardi. “As we explain in this book, born 30 years after the first event which, on our initiative, involved the Milanese design venues in a structured way, the FuoriSalone is achoral work which has many protagonists and to which various historical, geographical, productive and cultural factors have contributed. In fact, it is the expression of a system that could find its fruitful roots only in Italy and only in Milan”.
