By beating Chievo 2-0, Inter fully returned to the Champions League zone, but Conte's shadow worries Spalletti

Inter wins and returns to third place but Conte is a loose cannon

Inter puts things right. The 2-0 over Chievo allows them to return to third in the standings and, consequently, again at a safe distance from their pursuers. Now to toast to the Champions League it will be enough to score three more points, even less if Milan and Roma don't score full points: accounts that make you smile and allow Spalletti to breathe a big sigh of relief. Yesterday's challenge, in fact, presented more pitfalls than we wanted to admit on the eve: bottom side Chievo played without any kind of pressure, while Inter instead had tons of it.

On evenings like this, the risk is to get anxious, especially if the ball doesn't go in, the clock starts running fast and the fans start grumbling. Scenario that can lead to unwelcome surprises, a bit like what happened to Lazio on Easter Saturday, but which the Nerazzurri, after 20 complicated minutes, already averted in the first half.

A decisive left-footed shot by Politano from the edge of the area, with the young Semper watching the ball enter the goal after hitting the post (39'), to the delight of a San Siro that was starting to fear the yellow-blue trap. The most difficult thing, that is to undermine the wall erected by Di Carlo, was therefore done, now all that remained was to double up to definitively secure the 3 points.

This mission turned out to be equally complicated, because if it is true that Chievo only met on one occasion (right-footed Vignato just wide), it is also true that Inter made a lot of mistakes on the sills, leaving the result in I balance almost to the end. Rigoni and Perisic took care of sorting things out, in order, the former getting expelled for a foul on Gagliardini, the latter finding the 2-0 in the final (86'), thus redeeming the credit with luck he had seen a sensational post hit.

It had to be a victory and it was, with all the consequences (positive of course) of the case. Now the away match in Naples is much less scary as is the last one at home against Empoli, especially as it will be necessary to see if he will still be in the running for salvation or not. The Champions goal is approaching but this is not enough to reassure Spalletti, whose future, as has been rumored for months now, still seems far from Milan.

“La Gazzetta dello Sport has been writing the same thing for two years, it will obviously know something – the person concerned blurted out – In addition, I read heavy things around like that they are boiled, with fruit … These are very specific offenses but I defend myself and invite all Inter to do it. Marotta must do good for the club, he would be missed, but there is a different treatment towards me than others ”. Tensions remain, but in the meantime the standings are almost safe. And this, on balance, is the thing that matters most to the entire Nerazzurri universe.
