Inter, Garibaldi's brother wants you. But Moratti: "For now I'm not selling"

This is who Erick Thohir is, Indonesian tycoon and brother of Garibaldi Thohir (19th richest man in his country according to Forbes), who made Massimo Moratti waver with an offer for Inter that could reach 300 million euros – The father Teddy heads the Astra International group, which has a turnover of 20 billion a year.

Inter, Garibaldi's brother wants you. But Moratti: "For now I'm not selling"

May Italy always be a winning brand in the world, especially in emerging countries, it is well known, but to get to call a son Garibaldi, as a surname well known to us, which cannot be more resonant and more Italian, it takes a lot. And it is not surprising that the offspring may also like football, and perhaps especially the Italian one.

To find the name of Garibaldi Thohir, brother of Erick Thohir, the Indonesian tycoon who is trying to buy Inter, just scroll through the ranking of Forbes on the richest men on the planet: he is the 1250th richest man in the world and 19th in his home country, where he belongs to a family, of which Erick "the Interista" is the eldest son, who has a real passion for football sport. Erick before giving himself to Italy has in fact already depopulated in America, where together with the actor Will Smith is a minority partner of the Philadelphia 76ers, a franchise of the NBA, and also owns a stake in US Major League Soccer club DC United.

This time, however, Garibaldi's brother is serious: he wants the entire FC Internazionale football club, or in any case a majority stake then leaving the office of president to Moratti, after 18 years of practically personal management of a club considered a family jewel. The family jewel, which causes financial fair play is not sure of having a future worthy of its past, is worth an estimated amount of up to 300 million euros.

A figure that few can afford, also considering the investments to be made for a team that needs to be almost completely rebuilt, after having identified Walter Mazzarri as the coach for the relaunch. But Erick Thohir evidently has what it takes: his father Teddy has a conglomerate (theAstra International, a company that brings together others from multiple sectors including automotive, financial services, heavy industry, information technology, agribusiness and infrastructure) which turnover of 20 billion a year.

At home, these gentlemen unknown to us – but who call themselves by the surnames of the founders of our homeland – are the undisputed kings of Indonesian communications, thanks to Mahaka Media. Now, after a visit to the USA, the focus is on Europe. To Italy, to Inter. And while we don't know them, the Inter scene knows them very well: Thohir has already signed an economic agreement with Pirelli in the past, for the tires of the house in Indonesia. And Pirelli has always been the main sponsor of the Nerazzurri…
