Inter-Roma: Inzaghi aims for his first Scudetto and Mourinho plays against the nostalgia of the Treble

Today's big match could become decisive for Inter's race for the Scudetto, while Mourinho's return to San Siro, in the race for the Champions League, always smells of nostalgia

Inter-Roma: Inzaghi aims for his first Scudetto and Mourinho plays against the nostalgia of the Treble

There is something between Inter and the Scudetto Mourinho. The Nerazzurri receive the Roma of the Special One at the San Siro, a former idolized like no other, but this time the visit will be anything but a pleasure. The champions of Italy, very launched after the triumph in Coppa Italia derby, they want to take the fourth consecutive victory in the league which, calendar in hand, could really put the road to the tricolor downhill, but up front there will be a team finally made, determined to play the Champions League chances to the end. Inter-Roma thus becomes the key match for the title race, especially as Wednesday there will be the long-awaited recovery against Bologna and the Nerazzurri could once again lead the standings, this time without asterisks: first, however, Mourinho must overcome the obstacle, decided to be missed not so much by his former fans, but by that Marotta who, in the summer of 2019, vetoed his return.

Inter-Roma: Inzaghi in no uncertain terms, Mourinho in press blackout

We expected a hot eve, especially after the fireworks launched in the press room in Naples, instead Mou chose to remain silent, as if to make Monday's words echo. After all, there have already been enough controversies in recent days, with the Portuguese thundering against "the power of the three fighting for the Scudetto" and a large part of the pro-Roman media following him, up to the appointment of the referee Sozza, of the section of Seregno (Monza and Brianza) but born in Milan.

Things didn't go down well in the hottest circles of the Capital, where the refereeing issue is now at the top of the daily lineup: the power of Mou and his language, unwelcome on the outside but capable of making him madly loved by his fans, whatever they are. Also Inzaghi he had to deal with the controversies of the Var, daughters of Bennacer's goal disallowed in the derby that filled the pages of newspapers and TV broadcasts, but certainly his mood is much more serene and relaxed than some time ago: his Inter are back to flying and the missteps of February and March now seem a distant memory.

Indeed, the feeling is that the Nerazzurri are back as the real favorites in the championship, but to make that a reality, they still need two victories between today and Wednesday, after which fate will truly be in their hands. “We are facing one of the strongest teams in the league, coached by one of the greatest coaches ever: a match to be faced with great attention but also awareness – explained Inzaghi in the press conference -. Rome, Bologna and then also Udinese: the derby gave us conviction, now we know that next week can be decisive”.

Dzeko and Dumfries are back as owners, Mourinho without Zaniolo

Both teams are doing quite well, because if it's true that Inter, as we said just now, are in great shape, the same goes for Roma, who have relaunched both in the standings and in morale. Inzaghi, after the mini-turnover of the Cup, will return to proposing the typical team again, therefore 3-5-2 with Handanovic in goal, Skriniar, De Vrij and Bastoni in defense, Dumfries, Barella, Brozovic, Calhanoglu and Perisic in midfield, Dzeko and Lautaro in attack. Mourinho, on the other hand, will have to change the Naples eleven, in the light of Zaniolo's disqualification (his yellow card was one of the fuses that ignited the controversy), but apart from this, he will play against starting Roma, without thinking in the least about the away Leicester on Thursday. The Giallorossi will take the field with a 3-4-2-1 with Rui Patricio in goal, Ibanez, Smalling and Mancini in the back, Karsdorp, Veretout, Oliveira and Zalewski in the midfield, Pellegrini and Mkhitaryan behind the lone striker Abraham . San Siro, needless to say, will be practically sold out, but among the 70 there will also be 3.600 Giallorossi fans, testifying to how heartfelt the challenge is and anything but obvious.
