Inter, equal to Rome and goodbye Sneijder

An "X" that serves no one, but which net of absences is worth much more for Inter than for Roma: Palacio responds to Totti's penalty and makes it 1-1 – Wesley Sneijder officially became a Galatasaray player on the transfer market , complete with his first declarations: "I am happy to play in a club like this".

Inter, equal to Rome and goodbye Sneijder

Inter draw in Rome, Sneijder signs with Galatasaray. Here they are, in a nutshell, the news from Inter on Sunday. Which was played on two fields: at the Olimpico and in a hotel in the center of Milan.

Let's start with the football played and the draw against the Giallorossi. An "X" that is of no use to anyone, but which, net of absences, is worth much more for Inter than for Roma. Without Milito and Cassano, the Nerazzurri nonetheless engaged Zeman's rearguard with the usually implacable Palacio and with the young Livaja, good and unlucky. The structural limits of this team remain (reinforcements are urgently needed, especially in the middle of the pitch), but the standings remain positive, and these days that's something.

“Roma is a very high-profile team, but we have always been alive – declared Stramaccioni satisfied. – Let's consider that we have six strikers and four were unavailable, but I'm not used to crying or finding alibis. Scoring points here isn't easy for anyone, both teams finished the game tired, certainly because they had extra time in the Cup on their legs".

And to say that things for Inter had gone really badly. After 20 minutes of suffering, the Nerazzurri went down, punished by a questionable penalty. Of course, Ranocchia's crash could cause damage, but Bradley was looking for (and finding) the contact that Orsato judged to be a penalty. Totti took aim and displaced Handanovic for the most classic of penalties. Inter felt the pinch, but had the merit of not collapsing. And so, after Lamela's left foot (by a whisker), the Nerazzurri finally made themselves dangerous.

The 1-1 ball ended up on the post (terrifying left-footed shot by Livaja), but materialized in the goal right at the end of the first half, thanks to the award-winning company Guarin (assist) Palacio (goal). In the second half the teams stretched out and thus ended up conceding numerous chances, but nobody had the lucidity to materialize. It is above all Roma that are eating their hands, by virtue of the sensational mistakes of Osvaldo and Piris.

Thus it ended 1-1, with the Nerazzurri 4 points behind the Champions League and the Giallorossi overtaken by Milan, as well as light years away from third place (10 points). But while the X sign came out at the Olimpico, Inter won their most important match in Milan. At 21.40 Wesley Sneijder officially became a Galatasaray player, complete with his first declarations: “I'm happy to play for a club like this – declared the Dutchman. – I'm already thinking about the first match, I want to play against Besiktas. Terim? I've heard a lot about him, I know his career in Italy. Together we will do a great job."

A story that unblocked itself in the early afternoon, after a meeting between Sneijder and Moratti. “I wanted to talk to him, I thought he was necessary and nice – the president let it be known. – There has never been a war, it was a chat to summarize the whole situation and see the various wills, if you go in a certain direction and it seems so”. And in fact immediately afterwards the Dutchman saw his agent Soren Lerby and some Turkish emissaries.

Thus 7,5 million plus bonuses end up in Inter's coffers, which can be used for the repair market. "We have to look for a midfielder with different characteristics from the ones I have" said Stramaccioni, who dreams of Paulinho of Corinthias. But also Schelotto from Atalanta and Bellomo from Bari. The shopping list is served, now all that remains is to pay the bill.
