Inter-Genoa, Stramaccioni's first time on the Nerazzurri's hot bench

THE LINE-UPS – Looking a bit like that of someone who wants to beat Genoa, the new Inter coach gives the team a boost and prepares news for the debut at San Siro: Ranocchia and Zarate are back – “Mourinho? I think he doesn't even know who I am” – Until last Sunday he coached Primavera but he has a great personality and everyone wants to see him at work

Whatever happens this afternoon, Andrea Stramaccioni has already won. In fact, his establishment on the Inter bench gave an adrenaline rush to an environment (team, club, fans) that now seemed afflicted by chronic depression. Instead, today there is a lot of expectation for the match against Genoa, as if it were still worth something in terms of standings (and, after all, why not?) and all the credit goes to Stramaccioni.

Many things were said and written during the week about this coach born in Rome 36 years ago: he plays with the 4-3-3, wants a low play in front of the defence, loves multi-purpose players and won't look anyone in the face. But how are things really? "Training? You will see what is the best Inter possible today” said Stramaccioni at the press conference, who certainly didn't limit himself to banality.

In fact, the coach made a promise to all the Nerazzurri fans: “We want to give an answer on the pitch, not here in front of the microphones. It's my desire and that of the boys, who are crazy professionals. We want to reverse the trend, the negative trend of recent times. I have few words to say, only one thing: stay close to us. Enough words, from Sunday at 15 pm we will give everything and even more to give you satisfaction". Not bad for someone who, a few days ago, was coaching the boys of the Primavera. Now, however, he has to do with the “senators” and it excites him a lot: “When we enter San Siro I know I'll feel a crazy emotion, but then the match will start and I'll only think about that. Of course, I felt the biggest shivers when I entered the locker room for the first time…”. Sincere, honest and with a great personality, this is what emerges about Andrea Stramaccioni after a (scarce) week of work.

The coach is aware that he is still a "precarious" player on the bench, but if he does well between now and May 13, who knows what could happen. For now, he pretends not to think about it: “I was only asked to win with Genoa, a team with a highly trained coach and great players, especially in attack. For the rest, I don't even know who we will play against next week…”. In fact, it's better to think about this one, which Inter will face with a 4-3-3. The big news of Stramaccioni will be Ranocchia in place of Lucio and Zarate owner. Only bench instead for Guarin, who must find the best condition, while Forlan will return to play on the wing, a role he had rejected with Claudio Ranieri. In short, pending the field exam, Stramaccioni was promoted with full marks.

The coach didn't even get into trouble when faced with the question – Mourinho, a classic for every coach who lands in Appiano Gentile: “Did I hear it? No, I don't even think he knows who I am..." Stramaccioni joked (but not too much). The bronze face is there, now all we have to do is look at Inter-Genoa to understand if there are other qualities as well.
