Inter and Milan, Europe is closer

Double victory for the Milanese who do not give up on the European dream - Inter conquers Bologna with Gabigol and prepares for the direct clash with Roma which could be worth the Champions League - Milan suffers but tames Fiorentina in what could be the last match of the Berlusconi presidency

Inter and Milan, Europe is closer

Milan is there. Inter and Milan respond presently to the call for Europe and are candidates for a season finale as protagonists, ready to play it all between now and the next few days. The Nerazzurri and Rossoneri had no other choices, other than to take the 3 points: they did it with two victories that were as painful as they were important, perhaps even decisive.

Sunday in Milan began with Inter's victory over Bologna, a tight 0-1 draw that is, however, very valuable in terms of the Champions League. Only with the 3 points, in fact, next Sunday's direct clash with Roma would have kept meaning, which is why making a mistake at Dall'Ara would have been almost unforgivable.

The Nerazzurri obtained the goal despite a subdued performance, conditioned by the bad day of some starters (above all Candreva, Eder and Palacio) and by Bologna's desire for redemption, eager to get out of the crisis in front of their fans.

And so the match remained locked at 0-0 almost until the end, so much so that by now many considered the draw as a logical consequence of what was happening on the pitch. But then Banega took the chair: the Argentine, inserted by Pioli in place of a spent Palacio, found the right hole to launch D'Ambrosio and the winger was thus able to give Gabigol the perfect ball to make sense of the his Inter season, but above all to bring home a very heavy victory (81').

“It's always good news to know that you have a team that believes in it until the end – commented Pioli – We struggled, finding a Bologna that closed well and prevented us from finding the right pace. But we were good at not giving up and in the end this perseverance paid off. Gabigol? I'm happy for him, he's found some difficulties but now he'll start to get some satisfaction. And in the locker room I heard about a Brazilian dinner offered by him…”.

We don't know if even at Milan there are festive evenings planned, but it is certain that the success against Fiorentina is worth a lot, indeed a lot. The Rossoneri won what was a real play-off for the Europa League area, thus remaining in the wake of Inter, Atalanta and Lazio, perhaps hoping to gnaw something with the next direct clashes of others. A tense evening at San Siro, the last housewife, barring sensational twists, of Berlusconi, owner of the club.

"The team and I want to dedicate this success to him and to Galliani - Montella's words - It is a victory that fills us with pride because it leaves us in the wake of Europe, so far we have never lost against our direct competitors but the path it is still long, we know that there will be suffering until the end”.

A hard-fought match, basically decided in the first half. Kucka took care of unlocking it with a precise header on the development of a free-kick by Sosa (17'), then Fiorentina managed to find the equalizer with a paw from Kalinic on an assist from Chiesa (21', however, started slightly offside position).

Finally, Deulofeu found the decisive goal with a valuable right-footed shot from the edge of the area, thus giving himself the first "scalp" in the Rossoneri shirt but also, if not above all, 3 golden points. In the second half, despite possession of the Viola ball, the result never changed, and Milan were therefore able to celebrate their victory. Milan wants Europe and, after so many years, is ready to return in all its components.
