Inter champions in the winter but what a struggle to beat (2 to 1) Verona who missed a penalty in the 100th minute (!)

With a hard-earned home victory over Verona, Inter wins the title of reverse champion but the Scaligeri have something to complain about for a missed penalty in the 100th minute

Inter champions in the winter but what a struggle to beat (2 to 1) Verona who missed a penalty in the 100th minute (!)

With a very tiring 2 to 1 victory over the troubled team Verona Hellas theInter by Simone Inzaghi becomes winter champion. He has 5 points more than Juve who plays in Salerno tomorrow but who, even if they win, can no longer join the Nerazzurri in the first round of the 2022-3 Serie A. Inter, therefore, winter champions, but what an effort and what luck. How many regrets instead for the desolate Verona who in the 100th minute (!!!) missed a penalty that would have given them a well-deserved draw: unfortunately for the Scala team Henry he kicked it onto the post. Inter would have become winter champions anyway because, on goal difference over Juve, a draw was enough for them but the feeling - as evidenced by the previous draw with Genoa - is that Inzaghi's team has lost its brilliance, even if the ranking speaks in his favor.

After some scares caused to the Nerazzurri by the excellent Suslov, Inter took the lead for the first time in the 13th minute of the first half with the usual Lautaro after a splendid Thuram-Mkhitaryan action. But at 74% Verona recovered by grabbing an unexpected but deserved equalizer with Henry (the same one who later missed the fatal penalty) on a cross from Duda. Inter could take the lead again with Dimarco but the Veronese goalkeeper Montipò is good and lucky to save the goal. In the middle of the Cesarini zone, Bastoni hits the crossbar but Fraternity he is quick to put the ball in the net: 2 to 1 in the 95th minute. Then Henry's missed penalty and Inter are winter champions.
