Artificial intelligence, agreement between the Government and the Leonardo Foundation

Develop a proposal for a "code of compliance" for the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (IA) in the public and private sectors, also in view of the definition of a certification system of ethical and legal sustainability. This is the objective of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Ministry for Technological Innovation (MID) and the Leonardo Foundation – Civilization of Machines.

The document was signed on February 17 in Rome by the Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitization, Paola pisano and by the President of the Leonardo Foundation – Civilization of Machines Luciano Violante.

The protocol marks an important step in the Foundation's commitment to stimulate discussion initiatives on AI and raise awareness of the country's institutions on the impact and potential benefits of new technologies.

“As I recalled at the presentation of the Italy 2025 plan – declared Minister Pisano – artificial intelligence ei big data they are able to guide public decision-makers towards increasingly informed choices, efficiently managing a series of administrative procedures, especially if repetitive and with low discretion.

Design, develop and test artificial intelligence solutions, as long as they are ethical and always centered on man and his values, and apply them to administrative proceedings it means giving modern implementation to the constitutional principles that require an efficient administration. It's not something that you can choose whether to do or not to do, it's something that you have to do and that can have great positive effects on the everyday life of citizens."

"The collaboration with the Mid represents, for the Leonardo Foundation, the follow-up to the International Conference on the ethical and legal statute of AI, held in November at the Chamber of Deputies, and a further commitment for the modernization of the country in the European context”, said President Violante in the margins of his signature.
