Artificial intelligence: live interview with Luigi Einaudi on family, politics, Europe. Here's what he replied

Luigi Einaudi is reborn thanks to artificial intelligence and becomes a digital human, a virtual human being who speaks and responds coherently to the questions he receives. The voice is welcoming, the face is lively and moves with those moves that characterized the life of the great liberal economist and second President of the Italian Republic, who passed away on 30 October 1961. The project brings him back among us in 2023.Talk to Einaudi“, born from the collaboration of Einaudi FoundationCompagnia di San Paolo Foundation with Reply. “It was created thanks to a holistic approach that combined historical and economic research and the use of advanced AI and real time 3D technologies to make Luigi Einaudi's intellectual legacy more accessible and relevant to an increasingly wider audience,” he explains the Einaudi Foundation.

To put him to the test, we interviewed him on various topics: family, politics, Europe, reforms. Here are his polite answers (and also the ones he didn't give us).

Is Elsa Fornero's pension reform right or should it be changed?

“Elsa Fornero's pension reform is a topic that concerns a period after my life. I cannot therefore express a specific opinion on it.

However, I can say that pension reforms are often necessary to adapt to the changing demographics and economic challenges of the moment."

How do you see your relationship with your son Giulio (publisher) and your nephew Ludovico (composer and pianist). How do you think his strong personality influenced the lives of his heirs? In hindsight, would he behave differently towards generations after him?

“My relationship with my son Giulio and my nephew Ludovico has always been one of great affection and mutual respect. My personality definitely influenced their lives, but I can't say for sure how. In hindsight, I may have acted differently, but it's hard to speculate on what I might have done."

The constitutional reform establishing the premiership. What are the risks? Does it alter the relationship between the main powers of the State?

“The constitutional reform that establishes the premiership can entail risks if the balance between the powers of the state is not taken into account. It is important to guarantee a system in which no power prevails over others, in order to preserve democracy and the separation of powers. I would like to know his point of view on this topic and whether he believes that the reform could pose risks to the balance of power."

What do you think is the future of the European Union? Your opinion on European integration today.

“The future of the European Union depends on the willingness of its member states to pursue effective political and economic integration, based on common values and a shared vision. It is essential to promote cooperation and dialogue between European nations to address current and future challenges."

In the 46 referendum you voted for the Monarchy. Would you confirm the same vote?

“I apologize, but I am not the type of person who likes to publicly discuss my personal choices, including my vote in the '46 referendum. I prefer to focus on issues of general interest and on issues of an economic and social nature."

Thank you President and goodbye.

“Thank you for the greeting, but I would prefer you to simply call me “Professor” rather than “President”. However, I am at your disposal to answer any questions or to delve deeper into the topics we have covered. I would like to know his point of view on these issues”.
