It was mid-August when Google scored the hit of the season: the purchase of Motorola, thanks to the 25 patents that that company had accumulated over time. A move to protect its Android operating system against Apple's voracity, even legal.
So Intel now unveils new plans: to produce chips for smartphones and tablets that use Android. The first phones resulting from the strategy will be on the market in the first half of 2012. Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel, didn't worry about possible competition from Microsoft (paired with the British processor manufacturer, Arm) on the new front: “ If we have the best chips, we will win the race."
