The former trade unionists led by the president of the Labor Commission of the Chamber, Cesare Damiano, are trying, despite the opposition of the Government, to prematurely evict the Bocconi economist Tito Boeri from the leadership of the INPS to re-entrust the management of the institute to the trade unionists - Same fate foreseen for Inail – the Budget Commission will speak on Tuesday

Inps, the anti-Boeri coup is near: the trade unionists are back

In terms of folklore, every time Parliament tackles the economic manoeuvre, the shower of amendments to the text of the Government's budget law always makes the news: this year 6 have already arrived in the Chamber, less than last year. There is something for all tastes: from an unprecedented 100 euro tax on truffles to the social Ape, from the web tax to the abolition of parliamentary annuities. As we know, the approaching elections make promises rise, despite the balance of the public finances.

But among the many changes that the Chamber tries to introduce in the maneuver before its return to the Senate, the coup attempt on INPS stands out, organized by the president of the Labor Commission, Cesare Damiano, former trade unionist of Fiom-Cgil and former Minister of Labour, who Thursday he put the government in a minority and would like to bring the representatives of the trade unions back to the helm of the largest social security institution, as it once was.

If the operation goes through, the current INPS president, the Bocconian economist Tito Boeri, will be evicted prematurely to make way for a strategy and supervisory board made up of 15 members, one appointed by the government and the rest divided somewhere between representatives of workers' unions and representatives of business organisations. With many greetings to the efficiency and transparency of the INPS that Boeri, albeit getting entangled in positions on social security often far from his role, has tenaciously tried to introduce. The same fate is foreseen for Inail.

The step back towards associative and subdivision practices in INPS and Inail is evident and it is no coincidence that the Government, relying on a regulatory issue, has pronounced itself against the amendment conceived by Damiano (anti-Renziano Pd) and supported by the deputies former trade unionists, from the grillini, from far-left formations but also supported by Forza Italia and all the other groups, testifying to the fact that electoral demagoguery knows no color.

Now the word is up to the House Budget Committee which on Tuesday will assess, as for the abolition of annuities and other matters, whether the anti-Boeri amendment is compatible with the budget law or whether it is inadmissible. Then it will be up to the Senate. But the rancor towards the independent technicians at Boeri and the anxiety of subdivision won't give up so easily.
