Inps and Inail: Galera and D'Ascenzo appointed commissioners. That's who I am

The two INPS and Inali commissioners will have 90 days to launch the reorganization envisaged by the governance reform

Inps and Inail: Galera and D'Ascenzo appointed commissioners. That's who I am

Two technicians at the helm of Inps and Inail. After weeks of back and forth and negotiations between the majority parties, the two extraordinary commissioners of INPS and Inail were appointed. Leading the National Social Security Institute will be Micaela Galera, while at the helm National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work will go Fabrizio D'Ascenzo.

The appointments arrived via dpcm on Thursday evening, in the context of the Council of Ministers which gave the go-ahead for justice reform, a month and a half after the decision to kick out the current presidents, Pasquale Tridico and Franco Bettoni, commissioning the two entities.

The commissioners of INPS and Inail

The commissioning of Inps and Inail was established by the Meloni Government within the framework of the Governance reform decree approved on 4 May. Together with the two presidents, the boards of directors of the two entities also lapsed. Already a month and a half ago the decision had caused several controversies also fueled by the close expiry of the mandates of Tridico and Bettoni, both nearing term. The Executive had "justified" the choice with the need to start the reform quickly, but the opposition and the CGIL spoke of a "serious blitz".

Based on what is expected, Galera and D'Ascenzo will have 90 days to change structures and rules of both entities and adapt them to the provisions of the Governance reform. Among the main innovations is the appointment by the executive of a president and a board of directors made up of four members. Instead, the figure of the vice president disappears, while the general manager – appointed by the board of directors on the proposal of the president – will have a mandate of 4 years. The commissioners will therefore have the task of ensuring the administrative continuity of the two Institutes, ferrying them towards the new governance.

Inps and Inail: who are Galera and D'Ascenzo

Micaela Gelera, Roman, born in 1972, actuary of the labor consultants fund, very close to the Minister of Labor Marina Calderone who proposed her as INPS commissioner.

Fabrizio D'Ascenzo, also from Rome, 58 years old, is the dean of the Faculty of Economics at La Sapienza University which expires in November. He is the son of the former rector of Sapienza. His candidacy was allegedly supported by Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti, in contrast to other representatives of the League.
