IT: Cisco Systems buys Meraki for 1,2 billion

Cisco Systems has bought Meraki for $1,2 billion. This was announced by the Californian IT company itself, explaining that the acquired company specializes in cloud computing activities. Based in San Francisco, Meraki was founded in 2006 by members of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and today also has offices in New York, London and Mexico.

Meraki, who will form the spearhead of Cisco's new "Cloud Networking group", had previously said that he wanted to remain independent and aim for an outlet on the stock exchange in the medium term. However, the sale of her to Cisco will allow her to quickly achieve the goal of achieving annual sales of one billion dollars.
