Istat has revised downwards the data on theMay inflation. According to the final survey, last month there was a zero change compared to April and one + 1,1 % on an annual basis, against a provisional estimate of +1,2%. The Statistical Institute communicated it today.
The so-called "shopping cart" also slowed down: the prices of the most frequently purchased products fell by 0,1% on a monthly basis and increased by 1,5% on an annual basis, as in April.
Inflation stability – explains the statistical institute – is the result of upward and downward pressures on the prices of different types of products, which offset each other, in a general context of attenuation of inflationary tensions. The inflation acquired for 2013 is equal to 1,0%.
