More price increases for Italian industry. In December producer price index increased by 0,1% month on month and 3,8% year on year. The trend rate is clearly slowing down compared to the previous month (+4,4%). These are the latest data communicated by Istat.
The prices of the products sold on the internal market they grew by 0,1% compared to November and by 4,0% on a year-on-year basis. Net of the energy sector, there was a decrease of 0,1% in economic terms and a tendential increase of 2,7%.
The prices of the goods sold on the foreign market they mark increases of 0,1% on the previous month (with a growth of 0,3% for the euro area and a decrease of 0,1% for the non-euro area). On an annual basis, there was an overall increase of 2,9% (+2,8% for the euro area and +3,0% for the non-euro area).
The largest contribution to the trend growth of the index on the domestic market comes from the component relating to energy sector (1,7%). On the foreign market, however, the most significant contributions come from intermediate goods.
The sector of economic activity for which the trend of growth in prices is most marked is that of the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, with an increase of 15,7% on the domestic market and 18,5% on the foreign one.
