October in chiaroscuro for the Italian industry, which records a drop in turnover and a recovery in orders. According to what Istat reports, in fact, the total turnover of the sector, corrected for calendar effects, marks a drop of 1,3% on an annual basis, the synthesis of a drop of 3,8% on the domestic market and a 4% increase on the foreign one.
On a monthly basis, the turnover of the industry (net of seasonal factors) marks a drop of 0,7% compared to September, the synthesis of a drop of 1,2% on the domestic market of an increase of 0,2 on the foreign market . In the last three months, however, there has been a +0,7% compared to the previous quarter.
The raw turnover index marks an annual decrease of 1,4%, mainly due to the decline in the domestic energy component. The most significant increase recorded is that in the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products.
As regards orders, on the other hand, an increase of 1,2% on an annual basis was recorded in October. Compared to September, orders are down by 2,5%, due to the 6% drop in foreign orders.
