Industry, Istat: January increase in top orders since 2010 (+4,8%), turnover +1,2%

The foreign component is stronger: +6,4% on month for orders and +2,4% for turnover, respectively +3,7% and +2,9% on year.

In January, orders from Italian industry grew by 4,8% on a quarterly basis (seasonally adjusted data), the highest since December 2010, and by 2,6% on a trend basis (raw data). Total revenue rose 1,2% month over month, the highest since August 2012, and decreased 0,3% year over year. The Istat communicates it. 

The foreign component is stronger: +6,4% on month for orders and +2,4% for turnover, respectively +3,7% and +2,9% on year. The index corrected for calendar effects (21 working days against 22 in January 2013) shows turnover rising by 3% on a trend basis.

The seasonally adjusted turnover indices show cyclical increases for capital goods (+2,9%), for intermediate goods (+1,3%) and for consumer goods (+0,2%) while energy records a decrease (-0,5%). The most significant trend increase is recorded in the manufacture of machinery and equipment (+8,8%), while the greatest decrease in the manufacturing industry concerns the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products (-3,5%).
