Indra acquires the IT branch from Ericsson

The company strengthens its potential in the Italian Information Technology (IT) market, introducing 160 new professionals with skills and experience complementary to those that Indra already possesses in Italy. The transaction consolidates Indra's positioning in one of its main global customers – Enel – in the energy sector

Indra acquires the IT branch from Ericsson

Indra, a technology and consultancy company, has absorbed the business branch of Ericsson in Italy responsible for the development of Information Technology systems for Enel. The operation, according to a note, provides for the transfer of the systems development and maintenance activities and Indra will be responsible for IT service supply projects, which include the integration, development and maintenance of various ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning), Business Intelligence, Smart Metering and Grid Management for the Enel group in Italy, Latin America and Spain. The operation envisages the hiring of around 160 professionals in Indra, with experience and skills that are highly complementary to those that the company already possesses in Italy. And it consolidates Indra's position in one of its main global customers in the energy sector

Indra has installed its Energy solutions in more than 140 companies (electricity, water, oil and gas) in over 50 countries. Currently, the technology and consulting firm's systems enable energy companies around the world to directly manage more than 100 million customers.

With this integration, Indra strengthens itself in the Information Technology sector, a market in which it is the leader in Spain and Latin America and in which it also boasts a consolidated presence in Italy, where it has had sustained growth in recent years. Furthermore, the company consolidates its position in an important global client such as Enel, the largest integrated utility in Europe in terms of market capitalization, for which it carries out projects all over the world.

"The operation represents a decisive step forward in our projection and growth in Italy, which allows us to reaffirm the commitment to contribute with our solutions and capabilities to the technological leadership and digitization of the country", said the CEO of Indra in Italy, Pedro García, who particularly appreciated the "high complementarity and cultural closeness of the professionals, an aspect that will facilitate their full integration in Indra, where today around 900 professionals work".

After this operation, Indra in Italy has around 900 professionals working at the offices in Rome, Naples, Matera and Milan, the latter recently inaugurated following the expansion strategy in the country.Indra has located its global development center for Customer Experience solutions in Italy, completing the positioning through the Software Production Center in Naples, which interacts with 23 other centers operating in Europe, Asia and Latin America as advanced R&D poles. In 2016, the company presented Minsait in Italy, the business unit that responds to the challenges that digital transformation poses to Italian companies and institutions.
