PMI indices, Italy in the red also in services

The Markit/Adaci survey for our country indicates a drop in August to 49,8 points, from 52,8 in July – France stable, Japan bad, Spain, China and the United States flying.

After the decline of manufacturing data, Italy also sees slipping the PMI services index below 50 points, a threshold that marks the boundary between expansion and contraction. The Markit/Adaci survey for our country indicates a drop in August to 49,8 points, from 52,8 in July. The result is lower than market estimates, which had expected a figure of 51,8.

The drop in the index relating to the France, which fell from 50,4 to 50,3 over the same period. There Spain instead it recorded an increase from 56,2 to 58,1, reaching the highest peak since December 2006.

The data on Russia compiled by HSBC/Markit, it rose above 50 for the first time since February, rising to 50,3 points from 49,7 in July. After just a month of growth, however, the Japan, with a services PMI down from 50,4 to 49,9 points. 

The leap in the index calculated for the China, which between July and August went from 50 to 54,1 points, the highest in 17 months.

ISM manufacturing is also spectacular: the pace of expansion of the manufacturing sector in the United States accelerated in August to its highest level since March 2011, according to a survey by the Institute for Supply Management. The national business activity index rose to 59 from 57,1 the previous month. 

The US employment reading fell slightly to 58,1 from 58,2, below expectations of 58,4. The new orders index rose to 66,7 from 63,4, reaching its highest level since April 2004. The price index fell to 58 from 59,5, in line with estimates.
