Indesit reorganizes itself and goes on the Stock Exchange: investments for 70 million, restructuring for 1.400 people

Investments of 70 million euros in the three-year period 2014-2016 and the cancellation of over 1.400 jobs. These are the crucial points of the plan presented today by Indesit to the unions. The objective is to rationalize the structure of the company in Italy. However, the company guarantees that it intends to consolidate the role of our country as a "strategic engine in terms of skills and research and development". Immediately after the announcement, Indesit shares gained 1,3% in Piazza Affari.

The company explains that it intends to redesign the role of the three Italian industrial poles: Fabriano will become the driver for the innovation of built-in ovens, Comunanza for that of washing machines and Caserta for the production of built-in gas refrigerators and hobs mainly intended for markets with high added value in Italy and Western European countries.

The reorganization of the group, which currently employs around 4.300 people in Italy, involves a total of over 1.400 people including managers (25), employees of the headquarters (150) and workers and factory employees (1.250). “The dialogue started with the social partners – concludes Indesit – is aimed at identifying every possible and sustainable solution to support the employment of the employees involved, through an adequate use of social safety nets”.
