Government-gasoline meeting "profitable", strike frozen until new confrontation: Tuesday 17 January

Palazzo Chigi partially corrects the shot: themeeting between Government e gas stations if not decisive, at least it was "profitable" as defined by the president of the Figisc, Bruno Bearzi. For his part, the executive has ensured the start of a discussion with the sector, which will begin with a technical table scheduled for Tuesday 17 January and noted the strike freezing and the suspension of judgment on the decree law pending publication.

The undersecretary took part in the meeting which took place in Palazzo Chigi Alfredo Mantovano and the Ministers of the Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti and of companies and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso. Also present was the Guarantor for price surveillance, Benedict Mineo. The confrontation follows the tensions, which have reached the stars, triggered by the sharp rise in fuel prices due to the failure to extend the cut on excise duties decided by the Meloni government. Adding fuel to the fire is the "wave of mud" that has been thrown at petrol stations by the Government and the measures contained in the decree on the transparency of fuel prices. On this last point, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had already done so turnabout announcing that he will revise the decree.

After the Government-station operators meeting, the managers "freeze" the strike

So for now it is gas station strike remains confirmed, but the face-to-face participants agree that there is "room for discussion to avert the stop". “Appreciated the clarification received with the Government which restores an unequivocal truth: the managers have no responsibility for the increase in prices, nor for any alleged speculation mentioned. As far as gas station organizations are concerned, the controversy ends here,” they said in a joint statement Faib, Fegica, Figisc/Anisa after the meeting with the Government, explaining that "a path is opening that may lead to re-evaluating the strike called for the end of the month, currently frozen albeit with the reserve for its suspension according to the examination of the text of the decree once issued". “Now is the time to work seriously to restore efficiency and full legality to the network – continues the note -. Over the next few days, the managers' organizations will make themselves available to address the issues on the table and to identify instruments, including regulatory ones, useful for dealing with both the contingency and above all the prospects”.
