The alarm comes from the Associated Press which cites authoritative European and Iraqi security sources: it would be "interconnected" cells, like those that operated in Paris and Brussels, unleashed in many of the countries of the Old Continent, including Italy.
This army of foreign fighters, scattered throughout Europe, would be led by Francophones with ties to North Africa, France and Belgium. As sources of the news AP cites anonymously some European officials and an Iraqi secret service manager, in addition to the French MP Nathalie Goulet, which monitors jihadist networks.
