The confidence climate of households and businesses worsens in August. According to Istat surveys, the index which measures consumer confidence fell from 116,2 in July to 115,2; while the composite index of business confidence went from 105,3 to 103,8.
The decrease in the consumer confidence index is mainly due to the deterioration of the economic component (from 141,3 to 136,6), while the personal one increases for the second consecutive month, passing from 107,8 to 108,5. A limited decrease characterizes both the current climate (from 113,3 to 112,8) and the future climate (from 120,9 to 119,3).
Looking at businesses, the climate of confidence recorded a more accentuated negative trend in the manufacturing sector (from 106,7 to 104,8) and in services (from 105,9 to 104,7) than in construction (from 139,9 to 139,3 ,102,7); the retail trade went against the trend, where the index increased from 104,2 to XNUMX.
