Imu, Monti: "Berlusconi wants to bribe Italians with their money"

The Professor comments on Berlusconi's proposal to return the 2012 IMU on first homes: "It is the first time that someone has tried to buy the Italian vote with the money of the Italians themselves, the money used to plug the budget holes left from him who governed eight of the last 10 years” – And Monti challenges the Knight to a TV duel.

Imu, Monti: "Berlusconi wants to bribe Italians with their money"

"A nice attempt at bribery“. So the Mario Monti defines the last "shock proposal"of Silvio Berlusconi, who yesterday reached the climax of the electoral campaign by promising not only to abolish the Imu on first homes, but also to give back to Italians the money spent in 2012 to pay the new tax on main homes.

“It's wonderful – the outgoing Premier, candidate for politics with his civic list, joked to the microphones of Rtl 102.5 -. It is not the first time that someone has tried to buy the vote of the Italians. Fifty years ago, people promised a few kilos of pasta, or a shoe with the reservation of delivering the other after the vote… But it is the first time that someone has scientifically tried to buy the vote of the Italians with the money of the Italians themselves, those used to plug the budget holes left by him who governed eight of the last 10 years”.

According to Monti, Berlusconi's is “an attempt to make voting attractive for a party without much attention to Italian balances. A sympathetic attempt at corruption: 'I'll buy you the vote with money, which is that of the Italians. Then it doesn't matter that, like in 2011, I'll have to leave because the situation is no longer manageable, maybe they'll call a technician… But in the meantime I've been elected'”.

The Cavaliere “is not new to promises – concluded Monti -. He promised the liberal revolution, and there was no revolution. He promised tax cuts, and there was none during the Berlusconi governments. It is the fourth time that he promises, I think the Italians have memory ”.

Finally, from Facebook, the Professor threw down the gauntlet of the media challenge: "At this point - reads Monti's profile - we wonder if Berlusconi will accept my invitation to a comparison on TV to discuss also his proposals”.
