Imu, Chancellors to the mayors: "Be responsible"

Prime citizens and Carroccio united in the fight against the IMU, but Interior Minister Annamaria Cancellieri warns them: "Be responsible" - Calderoli: "It is criminal to have reintroduced the IMU", but it was the Northern League itself that voted for its reinstatement.

Imu, Chancellors to the mayors: "Be responsible"

After the League's attack, the Interior Minister Annamaria Cancellieri he urges the mayors in revolt against the IMU to come back down to earth: “The mayors are government officials, they have institutional functions and it is good that they never forget that they wear the tricolor band and work for the country. The band has a meaning, and therefore the mayors are responsible. I have the utmost confidence in them, I fully understand the difficulties, but the sense of the state must never fail". the return ofIMU "it is a very delicate problem, because it affects people and therefore it takes a lot of attention and we will have it".

To sound the charge against the Imu was, first, the Lega North, who branded the reintroduction of the tax on first homes as "criminal" - in the voice of Roberto Calderoli.

After the tirade directed by Prime Minister Mario Monti on the sidelines of the press conference on spending reviews, during which the Prime Minister underlined the inopportune cancellation "without calculating the consequences" of the tax on first homes, the Carroccio produced harsh criticisms of the taxation of the Government which limited itself, as Monti underlined, to to anticipate the reintroduction of the Imu, already envisaged by the summer maneuvers voted by the same Government of which the League was a part.

The leaders of the Po valley are now aiming to "halve the Imu and, through deductions, bring it to zero for first homes: it can be done under current legislation".
