Businesses: they grow above all in the South

Signs of recovery from the Italian entrepreneurial system, especially in the South, in the second quarter of the year. Between April and June, the Business Register of the Chambers of Commerce recorded an increase of 38 units, of which 14.500 (38,1%) resident in the South. These are some of the data on the birth-mortality rate of Italian businesses in the second quarter of the year released by Unioncamere – InfoCamere.

The result, underlines a note, highlights the growing participation of entrepreneurship in the South in the national balance in recent years: from 2008 to today, in fact, the share of the national balance of companies in the South has gone from 29% to 38,1% of the second quarter of this year. Even at the percentage level, the South is proving to be more dynamic: the overall growth rate of the Southern regions is in fact at +0,73%, up on the last two years, against the 0,63% of the national average, a value that exactly follows the one recorded in the same period of 2015.

“Italians continue to believe in the company – commented the president of Unioncamere, Ivan Lo Bello – and this drives us to continue working to make the decision to create an activity ever simpler, quicker and more widespread. Even our data, after those of Istat and the Bank of Italy, indicate signs of vitality on the part of the South. These energies must be valued, promoted and supported by building a favorable environment for those who want to do business in Italy". Looking at the data, at the end of June, the companies registered in the Chambers of Commerce register amounted to 6.070.045 units, of which 2.006.106 (exactly a third of the total) located in the South and Islands district.
