Mps and Ardian, a private investment company, have closed an agreement for the acquisition of a portfolio of 28 properties owned by the Monte dei Paschi group. The agreement was concluded at the end of a competitive procedure that started in July 2019 and after an exclusivity period granted to Ardian on February 10th.

The portfolio covered by the agreement is composed of 28 buildings mainly for office use and mostly located between the cities of Milan, Rome, Florence and Padua for a total commercial area of approximately 90 mXNUMX. In particular, among the properties acquired there are 5 historic buildings of great value which represent the majority of the value of the entire portfolio.

These are properties with great historical value, masterpieces from an artistic and architectural point of view such as the historic headquarters of the Bank in Milan in via Santa Margherita a few steps from Piazza della Scala, whose facade on Piazza Ferrari was designed by the architect, designer and urban planner Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Palazzo Alinari in the historic center of Florence and the late 800th century building in the famous via del Corso a Rome that connects Piazza Venezia to Piazza del Popolo.

In accordance with Ardian's strategy, the prestigious properties will undergo a redevelopment intervention with the aim of enhancing the current office and retail uses. In the coming weeks, Mps and Ardian will then stipulate a Preliminary Sale and Purchase agreement which will precede the completion of the expected acquisition, for most of the properties, by the second half of 2020.
