Ilva: today the table at the Mise. The mayor of Taranto: "Play"

Sixty-two is the magic number to keep in mind on the eve of the discussion table on Ilva convened for July 30 at the Mise by the Minister of Economic Development and Labor, Luigi di Maio.

There will be 62 acronyms present among associations, local authorities and various subjects. The Mayor of Taranto, Rinaldo Melucci, but also the President of the Province, Martino Tamburrano, were largely absent. Although both are well aware that Ilva's future is at stake, both dispute the excessive expansion of participation. Among those present there will in fact be some activists who last May, shouting "murderer murderer", chased the mayor of Taranto under the Prefecture after the accident at work in which 28-year-old Angelo Fuggiano, a worker from the Ferplast company, lost his life Ilva. Therefore, the mayor's comment was harsh, according to which "the braggart amateurism that Minister Di Maio will pass off as transparency and democracy, is only a well-crafted script to cover the void of proposals and courage".

"Too many acronyms today at the table on Ilva?" Well, "there are stakeholders" and the M5S method is to "listen to everyone", replied Di Maio remotely speaking on the TV program Omnibus on A7.

The negotiations therefore do not seem to restart under the best auspices even if today's meeting could mark a turning point. Indeed, it will be in this context that ArcelorMittal will present the improvement proposal promised last week in the letter sent to the commissioners.

On the other hand, the governor of Puglia, Michele Emiliano takes the side of Di Maio who, on Twitter, seems to want to increase the dose: "Who is afraid of the presence of citizens at institutional tables to which not even the Region was allowed with the government of the Democratic Party Puglia?".

As regards the unions however, the doubts of the various associations are expressed by the general secretary of the Fim Cisl, Marco Bentivogli who speaks of "the concrete risk of the catwalk: convening 62 associations without any criterion of representativeness is not synonymous with involvement and openness. Putting together elected institutional offices and people elected by citizens and by 85% of workers with others only serves to
make sure that in the two hours that Di Maio gives us, only he and the company will speak".
