Ilva, Guidi appoints three commissioners

The Minister of Economic Development, Federica Guidi, has appointed the three government commissioners who will have to manage the revitalization of the Ilva steel plant in Taranto: Piero Gnudi, current commissioner, Corrado Carrubba, current sub-commissioner appointed by Environment Minister Gian Luca Galletti to August, and Enrico Laghi, full professor of business economics at La Sapienza in Rome.

The provision comes a few hours after the presentation of the application for immediate admission to the extraordinary administration procedure by Gnudi himself.

In the intentions of the government, the extraordinary administration, as envisaged by the decree law passed before Christmas by the Council of Ministers, is the first step towards the recovery of Ilva, through the intervention of the State in the form of a public newco which will lease Ilva plants for two or three years.

Meanwhile, today in Taranto about 2.000 related workers demonstrated, worried about the risk that the companies they work for no longer receive payment of the receivables contracted with Ilva.
