Fabio Riva is in London and would be ready to turn himself in. The son of Ilva's owner Emilio Riva, who holds the position of vice president of the Group's holding company (Riva Fire Spa) and is currently officially on the run, sent an fax from London to the Taranto Public Prosecutor's Office: “I learned that a pre-trial detention order was issued against me. I was in England when this happened. I have decided to make myself available to the English authorities”.
After the arrest warrant that reached six other people involved in the Ilva investigation on November 26, an international arrest warrant is pending on the head of the Riva scion. Fabio Riva had left Italy in mid-November, probably after being advised of the developments of the scandal that has engulfed the Ilva of Taranto, and could be the key man to allow the Guardia di Finanza to access the safe of the Rivas, to compensate the potential victims and start the rehabilitation of the establishments.
To get to this safe, however, the Fiamme Gialle will have to sort out the dense network of offshore companies that control the assets of the Rivas.
