Ilva, Enrico Bondi new CEO

Enrico Bondi, former CEO of Parmalat and extraordinary commissioner of the government for the spending review, has been appointed new CEO of Ilva. The appointment was decided by the company's Board of Directors, which met today in Milan.

Bruno Ferrante was confirmed as president. As Ferrante himself had explained in recent days, Bondi has already been collaborating with Ilva for a few weeks, thanks to a consultancy contract.

The move could also have political-judicial objectives: the rumors of the last few weeks spoke of a possible maxi seizure of the assets of the Riva family - owners of Ilva -, as requested by a complaint from the Greens and environmental associations. A sort of guarantee to ensure that the four and a half billion euros promised by the company in environmentalization were actually spent.
