Illy: agreement with the US giant Keurig Green Mountain

New alliance for Illy. The Trieste coffee brand has signed a multi-year agreement with Keurig Green Mountain for the realization of the K-Cup capsules for the Keurig preparation system with the illy brand and with the exclusive Illy coffee blend, in the United States and Canada. Financial details of the deal are not yet known.

In the autumn of this year the two companies will proceed with an initial phase of launch of the K-Cup capsules with Illy coffee and with a limited distribution selection, while in 2016 the plan to expand availability will begin. The K-Cup capsules will contain the typical illy blend, composed of nine different Arabicas from all over the world.

Andrea Illy, CEO of the Trieste-based company, is satisfied: “We want to be a point of reference on a global level for the culture of coffee and excellence. We are happy to be able to offer the Illy coffee experience to those who use Keurig and are looking for a high quality coffee”.

One of the interesting aspects of this alliance is the fact that one of the privileged partners of Keurig Green Mountain, as well as a 3% shareholder of the Waterbury giant, is another Italian coffee giant, i.e. Lavazza
