Iliad, a French telecommunications group willing to challenge Team, Wind Tre and Vodafone, has appointed Benedetto Levi as managing director for Italy. Make way for young people: it will be an under 30 to drive the French low cost car led by Xavier Niel which will land in Italy by next spring and which promises bargain prices as it has already done in France with Free. As specified in a press release, Levi - based in Milan - "will be responsible for developing the mobile telephone operator".
Levi's appointment comes at a key moment for Iliad to enter Italy. Initially, the French company had announced the landing as the fourth mobile operator, after the merger of Wind and 3, by the end of 2017. However, times have lengthened. Negotiations are still underway to obtain an operating space on the towers of Inwit (Telecom company that manages towers, pylons, poles and signal transmission systems), and negotiations with Telecom to "lease" the optical fiber would be closed. After the release of Flavio Cattaneo, which had closed the door to new market entrants, the new Genish management appears to be more optimistic.
Born in Turin, 29 years old, Benedetto Levi has lived in London and Paris, where he founded a start-up specializing in the sale of smartphone accessories. In 2015 he joined the start-up as Country Manager Italy Captain Train, then acquired by the independent group trainline, worldwide operator of the online sale of railway tickets, whose entry and development in Italy was managed by Benedetto Levi.
Levi holds a degree in Logistics and Production Engineering from the Turin Polytechnic and holds a master's degree in Management from the Paris School of Commerce.
