Mayor Bianco: "Frontex in Warsaw is useless, I have an office ready in Catania"

The former interior minister launches a provocation: it would be better to move the headquarters of the EU border agency from the Polish capital “to the former Monastery of Santa Chiara. The time has come for Europe to get its hands dirty with its problems”.

Mayor Bianco: "Frontex in Warsaw is useless, I have an office ready in Catania"

"I have already prepared the former Monastery of Santa Chiara to host a Frontex operations room here in the city". This is the provocation launched in an interview with Corriere della Sera by Enzo Bianco, mayor of Catania and head of the Italian delegation to the EU Committee of Regions, twice head of the Interior Ministry in the past.

Frontex is the European agency in charge of patrolling the external borders of the Union. “When it was born I was Minister of the Interior – added Bianco –, then it became a brilliant center for studies in Warsaw. In Poland, understand? Where the flows of landings are studied a month after they actually took place here. The time has come for Europe to get its hands dirty with its problems”.
