Mr. Ikea is the richest in Europe

The name of Ingvar Kamprad is not among the best known. Yet his creature, Ikea, has left a mark in the homes of millions of people. And also in his daddy's wallet, which with assets of approximately $35 billion wins the most coveted record: he is the richest man in Europe.

The seventh place in the ranking, drawn up by the Swiss periodical Billan, is instead occupied by Ferrero family ($19 billion of capital). Kamprad's first position in the standings, explains Billan, is actually controversial due to the Swedish tycoon's decision to transfer most of his assets to the Ikea Foundation, engaged in philanthropic activities. For this reason, Forbes magazine had estimated Kamprad's personal net worth at just $3 billion.

Among other scrooges in the list there are also the Spaniard Amancio Ortega Gaona, owner of the Zara clothing chain and assets of almost 33 billion dollars, and the number one of L'Oreal, the ninety-year-old French Liliane Bettencourt, in fifth place with her fortune equal to 20 billion dollars.
