The new iPhone 13 drags Apple: blaze or bubble?

The appointment is for 19 pm, Italian time, 10 am, when it will be possible to follow the presentation of new models and new Apple services online from Apple Park. Apple California Streaming it is a long-awaited event announced by a shower of previews both on the characteristics of the new line i Phone 13 plus the Mini with a diagonal of 5,4 inches. Not to mention the news in the sector iWatch: not missing, price 399 dollars, the possibility of measuring the level of oxygen in the blood. But the real news is the debut in 5G accompanied by the debut of Smart Data Mode technology: given that 5G consumes a lot, the apps will choose whether they need 5G or if they can do without it by using a slower network that has less impact on the battery.

All of this explains, at least in part, the fever on the eve. On Monday at the Nasdaq, the Apple stock scored a rise of 6,4%, with a leap in the capitalization of 128 billion dollars, a record already broken in overnight trading in Tokyo and this morning in Europe where the stock is trading over 127 dollars (+2,7%) waiting for Tim Cook to raise the curtain on Apple's latest creation. Everything upfront? Absolutely not. The title race lifts many doubts about the nature of the rise and market characteristics. Let's see why.

  • Monday's rise is linked to the boom in options that make it possible to focus on the growth of the stock in the near future. The Robinhooders, i.e. the small investors (or speculators) went wild on the "zero cost" platforms, taking advantage of the Columbus Day holiday of many Americans. In just one day, four million were bought, about double what sees on average in one session.
  • A movement of this type also offers many opportunities to professionals. The financial intermediaries who have sold the call options, to hedge against the upside risk usually buy securities on the market with the result of increasing volatility as happened at the end of August, when the Japanese stakes had moved the securities Softbanks.
  • Will it be like this again this time? We will find out soon, even if the spotlights of the sheriffs of the Stock Exchange but even more the size of the capitals moved by the Apple make it unlikely that the sting will occur in one day, among other things in which Wall Street will be grappling with the start of the quarterly campaign and with the flood of business of the Amazon's first day, destined to relegate the electoral campaign of Donald Trump, the great enemy of Jeff Bezos, to the shadows.
