Nobel Yunus to Fs: "Countries work like trains"

“Countries normally function like a train with a locomotive pulling the convoy. Microcredit, on the other hand, ensures that every single wagon is autonomous. If you detach it from the locomotive, it can continue traveling by itself, because every human being is a creative engine”.

This was stated by the Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, interviewed by Freccia.TV, before getting on the Frecciarossa who brought him from Milan to Naples, aboard a carriage in the company of 50 young startuppers.

In the interview on the web TV of the Italian State Railways, the Bengali economist also admitted the great passion for travel which in his career has taken him around the world: "In this way I can get to know other people and give them examples of what I have done in other countries. It's a way to network. And then I often meet young people who want to create a completely different world in which to be happy and proud of what they have done".

Finally, Yunus recalled that still today "in the world 4 billion people have less than 1% of the world's wealth" and reiterated that "the system for involving everyone is microcredit": "For this we need regulations to create credit that allow the poorest to support themselves and access financial services".
