Napoli doesn't give up and returns to -6 from Juve

Convincing performance by Napoli who beat Verona 3-0 even without Higuian: Neapolitan goals from Gabbiadini, Insigne and Callejon – Reaching Juve, who maintain a 6-point lead, remains difficult but Sarri's team covers its back by keeping Roma at a safe distance from second place

Napoli doesn't give up and returns to -6 from Juve

Napoli puts Juventus back in their sights. A little out of focus from the 6 points away, perhaps, but at least visible, at least on a mathematical level. Difficult to think of the Scudetto but certainly not due to the fault of the Azzurri, who have reached 70 points and are almost always able to do their duty. The "problem" is represented by Juve, currently the team with the best streak of consecutive useful results in all the major European leagues. In any case, mathematics still leaves a glimmer of space open and Napoli have every right to look into it, especially after doing their duty like yesterday.

The 3-0 against Verona may seem obvious but it wasn't, for the opponent (now one step away from Serie B) and above all for the internal climate, far from serene after the week of controversy. Not that the victory has completely restored calm (the total press blackout, just to give an example, continues undaunted), but it certainly helps to overcome the bitterness in Udine and to look at the away game in Milan with a little more confidence, true and right crossroads of the season. At the San Paolo, more than on the field, the eyes were focused on the grandstand, where a certain Higuain sat, in the first of the 4 match days of disqualification.

The Azzurri showed solidarity and affection for him with chants and personalized masks, then concentrated on the pitch and on Manolo Gabbiadini, who was called to the difficult task of not making Pipita regret. And the number 23 certainly didn't need to be asked, unlocking the game with a header in the 33rd minute. Leading by one goal and decidedly superior on a technical level, Napoli were able to play on velvet, also because Insigne, right on the verge of the first half, he doubled his lead on a penalty kick (47', foul by Souprayen on Callejon).

The 3-0 came midway through the second half with Callejon, good at finalizing a good move by El Kaddouri and finding the goal that sealed up the result. Convincing victory, as well as a loud and clear message to the whole championship: Napoli is still there and has no intention of giving up.
