Fifteen cities have already presented their project. Others will arrive and there is time to do so until February 1, 2023. The Ministry of Culture has extended the deadlines for the procedurei selection of the title of Italian Capital of Culture for 2025. In a few weeks Procida the baton of 2022 will pass to Bergamo and Brescia for 2023. For 2024 the title has already been assigned to Pesaro. The applications in progress concern, in fact, 2025 with the jury must select ten final projectsyou. The cities that will be admitted to the selection will have to illustrate their proposals and the convocations will be announced by 22 March 2023. Immediately afterwards, the jury will indicate to the Minister the candidacy deemed most suitable for the title of "Italian Capital of Culture" for 2025. As Procida demonstrated this year, in the two years preceding Parma, the challenge becomes increasingly stimulating. The projects are increasingly articulated and representative of the territories and roots of an extraordinary country that is not always able to enhance its own quid. Traditions, art, the environment, peace, education, innovation have been the predominant themes of the latest editions that have enthralled thousands of people and involved hundreds of artists.
One million euros to the winning city
The ten finalist projects will be discussed publicly during hearings to be held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture or, possibly, via videoconference. Each finalist will have thirty minutes to present their application. According to the regulation, another half hour is available to the jury for in-depth questions. The winning city will receive a contribution of one million euros which represents the first economic aid to organize the year of events. It will then be the turn of local institutions, organizations and companies that will come together to give support to the new capital of culture.
