Milan conquers Bologna: the Pioli cure works

Blessed Emily! This, more or less, Stefano Pioli must have thought at the end of Bologna-Milan, which finished with a success just like a week ago in Parma. And given that next Sunday there will be Sassuolo, the Rossoneri would be allowed to dream, were it not for the fact that superstition, in football, is above all for us who tell about it. In any case, Dall'Ara's 3 points are on file and the common thread with Parma goes well beyond territorial proximity: the truth is that Milan has finally found a very precise physiognomy, of men and of the game.

“The latest results are no coincidence, we believe in them more, we work harder and we don't hold back – confirmed Pioli. – In the final we shouldn't have suffered so much, but Bologna never gives up. We must always be aware of our qualities and know that, with the intensity seen today, we can do other performances like this. But now let's think about Sassuolo, at the moment our goal is to think race after race ".

Lots of good news from Bologna, starting with Piatek's performance: the Pole, beyond the penalty won and converted in the 15th minute, played his best game of the season, thus proving his coach right, who had defended him from various criticisms and voices. If the awakening of the Pistolero is a surprise, it is not so for Bonaventura and Theo Hernandez, the former now fully recovered, the latter by far the best signing of the summer campaign. It is no coincidence that they were the ones who stamped the other two Rossoneri centres, with the Frenchman protagonist, this time in spite of him, even of one of the two Bolognese goals.

But let's go in order and start from the 15th minute, with Piatek good and lucky in winning a rebound and getting knocked down by Bani, for a penalty he then coldly converted. The goal was not an isolated episode, on the contrary the Rossoneri continued to grind the game, thanks to a finally inspired midfield (Bennacer's performance was also very good) and an ever better physical condition. In the 32nd minute Suso saw an opening in which Hernandez threw himself perfectly: 2-0 Milan and a downhill game. Indeed not, because in the 40th minute Theo himself, following the development of a corner, unfortunately hit the ball and sent it behind Donnarumma, for the goal that rekindled the Rossoblu's hopes.

The risk was to overturn the inertia of the match, but Milan returned from half-time even more charged up, so much so that they immediately found the 3-1, this time with a nice left-footed shot from Bonaventura, who scored their second goal in their last three games (46'). Mihajlovic, finally back on the bench, tried to shake him off by first inserting Santander and then Orsolini, for a very strong front-wheel drive Bologna. The move, apparently desperate, instead paid off with the former Atalanta getting a penalty and Samson converting it (84'), for a fiery finish.

To tell the truth, however, the opportunities to score again happened on Milan's feet, but neither Castillejo nor the tireless Hernandez were able to transform them. It doesn't matter, since what mattered most were the 3 points and those ended up in Stefano Pioli's pocket. Now the standings, although still far from the expectations at the beginning of the season, are starting to make sense, with the Rossoneri at 20 together with Turin, just one point behind Naples and Parma. The European zone remains 8 points away, 9 if we consider the Champions League, but if the signals from Emilia are confirmed, Milan could still have a (small) hope of readjusting the season. Also because next Sunday Sassuolo arrives, whose origin at least authorizes us to smile…
