Milan and the Chinese, horror film of the closing that doesn't exist

All the possible scenarios of a sale announced and never carried out: will Berlusconi stay at Milan? Will the elusive Chinese really arrive? What will happen to Donnarumma? An endless puzzle that has exhausted even the most passionate fans

Milan and the Chinese, horror film of the closing that doesn't exist

There is an old joke by Woody Allen that goes more or less like this: “Today humanity faces two great possibilities: a nuclear holocaust [they were years of the Cold War], or an environmental tragedy that will make us disappear from the face of the planet. Let us pray to God to enlighten us and make us choose the best path". A very similar alternative is offered these days to the Rossoneri fans.

Scenario A, the most probable. Berlusconi collects the 200 million down payment that the phantom Chinese consortium recklessly advanced to him without having the rest of the money. With that money, he announces that he's going it alone, that he's going to do a big signing campaign, that he's bringing Milan back to its former glory and naturally that he's the centre-right's candidate for the next elections when they ever take place. Thanks to the paranormal powers at our disposal, we are already able to anticipate subsequent developments with sufficient clarity.

There are at least 30 public prosecutors ready to prove that those 200 million are actually black money that Berlusconi himself has hidden away in some tax haven, that on the other hand no one is stupid enough to give a 200 million deposit on a deal for 600, that it is a clear crime of self-laundering against which the effects of the Severino law are a joke and this time the Cav, other than Palazzo Chigi, risks seeing the checkered sun. At that point the Fininvest group swerves conspicuously, the manager sons (Marina and Piersilvio) strengthened by the sensational successes obtained at the helm of Mondadori and Mediaset, assume full powers and Milan ends up as soon as possible, even for free, just call it quits.

But there is a scenario B, which is even worse. It is based on what in scientific literature is called heroic assumption, i.e. a highly improbable hypothesis. So let's assume for a moment that the Chinese really exist. I can already see disbelief appearing on the face of anyone reading this article. But how do you mistake Li Yonghong and Han li - who the photo opportunity with Berlusconi gives us back with those huge heads, with those cardboard puppet faces - for financiers capable of buying and relaunching the most successful club in the world?

And indeed, How long has the grotesque collection of the Sino Europe consortium been going on? For almost a year, with four, five, six closing appointments that have been regularly deserted because the money never arrived, and certainly not from them who are not even included in the rankings of the 500 (but probably not even of the 500) most Chinese rich. More or less the same story as the elusive mr. Bee, the Thai broker who in February 2015 Berlusconi presented as the leader of another exotic consortium destined to buy Milan (at the time even for a billion dollars).

February 2015: Milan have been up for sale for more than two years now, the company is under due diligence, no one plans or works for the future and it is truly a miracle that the team still manages to come up with anything. In any case, it was said, let's imagine that the Chinese really exist: scenario B. Scenario B is a horror film of which we have seen the first shots and precisely because we have seen them we would like to have been spared the following ones.

As a first move the Sino Europe tycoons appoint their trusted men for their AC Milan. And they choose two executives like Fassone and Mirabelli known not only for their unmemorable feats, but above all for both coming from Inter. They will also come from China, but how can they think of putting Milan, the aristocracy of world football, in the hands of members of a team that has made a fool of itself in all the stadiums of the world?

Second move. Since he realizes he has exaggerated, Sino Europe tries to rebalance the situation by inserting a red and black flag at the top, or rather the flag of flags, namely Paolo Maldini. Who, however, in the second conversation with Fassone and Mirabelli sends them to draft. For reasons, as they say today, of governance: in the event of differences between Fassone and Maldini, Fassone would have decided. In the event of differences between Mirabelli and Maldini, Fassone still remains, i.e. Mirabelli who is Fassone's trustee. In short, the most loved flag of the Rossoneri fans should have placed themselves under the orders of those two.

Third move. At the appointment with the transfer market in January, Milan are in a situation that no fan would have dared to imagine. Juventus humiliated in the Supercoppa final, the team travels in the league to the top quarters of the standings, those that give access to the Champions league.

An unexpected situation because, if you go and look the roster of players, Milan does not go beyond the tenth position preceded not only by the various Juve, Rome, Naples and Inter, but also by Lazio, Fiorentina, Turin and probably also by Sassuolo. A half-miracle, the credit for which goes largely to the coach Montella. Under these conditions, and given that the would-be owners have declared to the rooftops that they are ready to invest 100 million a year for the next three (a figure that at current football values isn't even that much) a clever Chinese thinks: since access to the Champions League is worth tens of millions, why not strengthen the squad now, in the January transfer market, under the obvious condition that the investments made now will be subtracted from future ones?

The problem, unfortunately, is that you have to have money to spend it and poor Milan, or if you want the Milan of the poor, without reinforcements thus slipped to seventh place. So far the first scenes of the horror movie. But again, thanks to the paranormal powers we have we are able to anticipate the next one. Since in terms of social danger the football prosecutors are battling with the smugglers of the Mediterranean, and since among the prosecutors one of the most disturbing figures is the pizza maker Mino Raiola, agent of the only true star who today wears the Rossoneri shirt, DonnarummaWhat are the chances that Gigio will stay at Milan?

We dare not even think about such an eventuality, let alone put it in black and white. But then Berlusconi, who two years ago pledged to put Milan in solid hands capable of renewing the club's success story, must know one thing. He must know that he was the best president of Milan for what he did and the worst president in the more than XNUMX-year history of Milan for what he is doing. That the Rossoneri people are tired of being made fun of, because their gratitude remains, but their patience is really over.
