The Growth decree is law: final approval in the Senate

The Senate Hall gives the green light Growth decree, on which the government had raised the question of confidence, with 158 votes in favour, 104 against and 15 abstentions. The text is then definitively approved and becomes law. The final vote of Palazzo Madama arrived just 48 before the last day for the conversion, June 29, the date after which the decree would have lapsed.

Time constraints have made new changes impossible, so the text is identical to the one approved last week in the House.

The President of the Council, Giuseppe Conte, commented on the definitive approval of the provision with a tweet:

Secondo Stefano Patuanelli, group leader in the Senate of the 5 Star Movement, “the Growth decree that has just been definitively approved in the Senate is a measure that has been following the same path taken for more than a year by the Conte government. From the Dignity decree onwards, we have always worked to promote economic development and social equality, making them go hand in hand. From measures to support private investment and access to credit by SMEs, to incentives to bring back to Italy the best local minds who fled abroad to work, today we are giving Italians a long series of measures that look to the future. Which, we are certain, will be able to boost our economy which, as everyone knows, rests on very solid foundations”.

From the opposition, Senator Pd Teresa Bellanova he said in the Chamber that the Growth decree “betrays a vacuum of thought and a total inadequacy of the Government. Which does not indicate a strategy for growth or investment. Which cuts where it is most needed, from safety in the workplace to training and innovation. The OECD says that today's children cannot even imagine the new jobs of tomorrow but if one is a ruling class capable of making this effort to forecast an adequate training offer, it must absolutely be done. A problem that hasn't touched you even remotely ".

“The government loses the majority in the Senate, 158 vote yes on the growth decree, exactly 13 less than the first trust in Conte. Incompetence and arrogance do not pay". This was stated by the president of the Pd senators, Andrea Marcucci.
