A little jewel in the heart of Rome. For the second year in a row, Cinema Troisi won the Golden Ticket of Italian cinema thanks to the high turnout of spectators recorded in the 2022-2023 film season. Over 90.000 people attended compared to 60.000 last year, numbers which represent a growth of +50% for the structure, which was classified first among the 713 Italian single-screen cinemas.

A result obtained by the Piccolo America Foundation, which received the award in Sorrento as part of the 46th edition of the Professional Cinema Days promoted by ANEC and ANICA, two years after reopening of the historic hall in Trastevere, after more than ten years of abandonment.

Carocci: “An award that demonstrates that Troisi's formula works”

«The Cinema Troisi is a single-screen cinema that has worked so that multi-programming becomes its strong point, screening 313 different titles in one year, and which, together with the enjoyment of first-run films in the original language, is careful to conceive and offer its spectators evening reviews on the great authors of cinema, nocturnal initiatives or fixed appointments for every day of the week; and even creations of new formats, carte blanche for Oscar-winning directors and collaborations with platforms to transform a conflict into an opportunity. At Troisi the highly followed and almost always sold out events have become a point of reference for the public Saturday and Sunday reviews at 11 in the morning, constantly supported by a careful search for works that are first or never distributed and seen on the Italian big screen. This is possible thanks to the participation and attention paid to both large and small film festivals,” he says Valerio Carocci, president of Piccolo America.

“Winning the Golden Ticket for the current season for the second year – continues Carocci – is a great satisfaction for us, because it confirms that Troisi's formula works: on the one hand, always looking for innovative ways in programming, on the other, aiming to create a new role for the cinema in the urban fabric. In fact, the latter is seen as an increasingly inclusive meeting place, with its study room open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which guarantees free access for anyone to a space in the historic centre, thus also contributing to the reduction of social inequalities".

“The first thanks goes to the over 90.000 spectators at Troisi a very young audience, 65% are under 35, result calculated on the 1975 shows on the bill, of which only 4% were accompanied by meetings. This model has meant that, in addition to being the first single-screen cinema in Italy, the Cinema Troisi screen is also the 14th in terms of attendance among the over 3.400 screens in Italy, competing with the largest national multiplexes" declares Federico Croce, general director of Little America.
