Maximillian Bittner, CEO of Lazada Southeast Asia, said Indonesia had become Southeast Asia's top market by revenue generation in just one year. “Indonesia contributes approximately 30 percent of the region's market,” Bittner said. Lazada, an online business run by German venture capitalist Rocket Internet GmbH, began operating simultaneously in the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam in March last year. Bittner added that Lazada Indonesia, which is a business-to-consumer business, saw its revenue increase by at least 20% month-over-month in 2012 and expects a similar pace of growth for 2013. numbers will explode with smartphone adoption,” he added.
A Frost & Sullivan study estimates that 3G subscribers will make up 45% of all cellular users by 2015, up from 23% in 2012. At the end of 2012, cellular subscribers reached 350 million of units.
