The BTP at 30 is snapped up. And Piazza Affari continues to rise

Negative news rains down on the real economy of Italy and the rest of Europe (France has officially entered a recession), but Piazza Affari closed higher today – Fiat, Monte Paschi and Mediaset are on the run – Resounding success also for the new Btp at 30 years: 13 billion total orders for a final amount of just six – Gold and euro down

It's raining negative news on the real economy. In Italy, in Europe but also, less predictably, in the USA.

The Italian GDP falls by 0,5% in the first quarter, extending the longest negative streak ever. There France is officially in recession, Germany rises by 0,1%. The eurozone is down by 0,2%.

In April the industrial production it fell by 0,5%, a sharp slowdown compared to the +0,3% of the previous month. Empire Manufacturing was also down, calculated on the basis of orders and sales of industrial companies based in New York.

The markets collect the data without firing a shot.

A Business Square the Ftse Mib index rose by 0,9%. at an altitude of 17,471.

Resounding success instead for the new BTP at 30 years: approximately 13 billion in total orders for a final issue amount of 6 billion euro. The placement was entrusted to a syndicate of banks made up of UBS, Citigroup, BNP Paribas, UniCredit and Deutsche Bank. The launch of the new 30-year benchmark marks the return of the Treasury to this extra-long maturity for the first time since September 2009.

In Piazza Affari Fiat is racing up 7,63%. It is the revenge of the most sacrificed four-wheel companies: in Paris Peugeot +4,61% and Renault +4,39% are in turmoil. BMW in Frankfurt rises by only 1,12%, BMW +1,25%.

Monte Paschi flies even more +9,39% after the results of the quarter. Revenues beat expectations, the loss was less heavy than expected.

Mediaset also rallied +9,07% which was promoted to buy by Ubs.

Among the other banks, Unicredit rises by 2,14%, Intesa gains 3,4%, Banco Popolare -0,92%. Banca Popolare dell'Emilia recovers +1,41% after the results.

Among the insurance companies, Fondiaria Sai +2,42% recovers after yesterday's fall, Unipol +3,8%, Generali +0,2%.

In Piazza Affari Fiat is racing up 7,8% with no news capable of explaining the strong movement. Fiat Industrial loses 0,2%, Exor gains 1,8%.

Pirelli advances by 1,1% after the declarations of the president Marco Tronchetti Provera, according to which institutional investors of Qatar are considering entry into the capital of the Milanese company.

StM rises by 2,35%. Good rise for Finmeccanica +1,39% after the results of the quarter.

Among the blue chips, the decline of Atlantia stands out, losing 1,48% after the Singapore airport company, Changi, announced that it had started the sale of its Gemina share package, equal to 8,4% of the capital . Atlantia and Gemina are mutually engaged in a merger project. Gemina loses 1,7%.

After the good results announced yesterday. Italcementi rose by 3,8%.
