The TV bonus changes: 100 euros without Isee

TV bonus, you change: no longer 50 euros with Isee up to 20 thousand euros, but 100 euro for everyone, regardless of the Isee. These are the main changes to the subsidy which, according to the latest rumors, will be contained in a joint implementing decree by the Treasury and the Ministry of Economic Development. However, the objective of the measure does not change: to help Italians replace or correct old television sets.

WHY SHOULD I CHANGE THE TELEVISION?

From June 2022, older TVs will no longer be able to receive digital terrestrial signals. On a technical level, the change concerns the transition from the current DVB T1 standard to the new DVB-T2/HEVC technology, designed to encourage the development of 5G. Also, the frequencies will also change.

WHAT CAN I BUY WITH THE TV BONUS?

The TV bonus can be used to purchase a new television or a decoder capable of receiving the new signal (via digital terrestrial or satellite).

The discount can be used for a single purchase. Consequently, those who have to replace more than one television will be forced to bear the full costs from the second appliance onwards.

HOW TO CLAIM THE TV BONUS?

There are no bureaucratic procedures to follow. The benefit is paid as a discount on the purchase price charged by the seller. To benefit from the incentive, therefore, just go to a shop that adheres to the initiative and deliver to them this form after filling it out.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED THE TV BONUS?

Finally, let's see how to check if the TV we have at home needs to be replaced or integrated with a decoder. There are three ways to find out if a TV will be able to receive digital terrestrial even after June 2022:

  1. consult the list of products suitable for receiving the new signal (the list is on the website of the Ministry of Economic Development);
  2. check that the wording DVB T2 or H265/HEVC is present on the back of the device;
  3. Tune into channel 100 (Rai test) or 200 (Mediaset test) and see if the wording "Test HEVC Main10" appears on the screen. If it appears, it means that the TV will receive the new signal.
